FAZ Magazine, in cooperation with Achtung Mode magazine, has published its 2025 ranking of the 50 most important Germans in fashion. We're delighted that Reiner Holzemer is a new entry at number 15.

No. 15

REINER HOLZEMER, director

"Back when people wanted an iconic portrait of themselves, they'd go to Andy Warhol. Today, if a designer wants a cinematic monument, they contact Reiner Holzemer. No other director better masters the tightrope walk of creating a sensitive portrait that goes beyond PR, yet still satisfies the ego of people like Dries Van Noten or, most recently, Thom Browne. His documentary 'Margiela: In His Own Words' is considered a cinematic masterpiece in the fashion canon; the Belgian even personally visited Holzemer's cutting room in Munich a few times to review the final cut. Holzemer's initial advantage was clearly his outsider's perspective on the fashion world. Meanwhile, he knows the industry's sensibilities all too well. Not everyone in it interests him, but he'll certainly accompany one or two more with his camera in the coming years."
