At the Gilde Film Awards ceremony during Leipzig Film Art Fair, LARS EIDINGER - TO BE OR NOT TO BE received the award for Best Documentary 2023. Since 1977, German arthouse cinemas have been using this award to thank filmmakers and distributors who delight viewers with “extraordinary productions and gripping stories”. Director Reiner Holzemer and Christoph Ott, Filmwelt Verleihagentur, accepted the award. Protagonist Lars Eidinger, who played HAMLET at the Schaubühne Berlin that evening, was connected directly via video to the award ceremony after his performance.
